Cover Front: RCA Victor logo top right corner. Catalog number upper left corner. or RE front cover RCA and catalog number upper left corner and Victor Stereo upper right corner. Reflects logo change and has “RE” at lower left on front.
Cover Back: RE upper right corner for both Monaural and Stereo.
The RE on back is not documented anywhere. I have suspected to exist and this copy turned up after 9 years of looking in November 2021. This is an extremely rare transitional cover. Two more covers were identified without the RE on front, September 2022. What makes this so interesting is that RE was appended to both the Mono and Stereo catalog numbers to reflect the change for Ain’t That Loving You Baby*. That song had been reprocessed for stereo. Since there was no reissue of Mono and since Mono wouldn’t need that asterisks the cover is incorrect. It is also interesting that the *This selection has been electronically reprocessed for stereo from the original monaural recording. was simplified to the more common standard of *Stereo effect reprocessed from monophonic on the RE2 cover. The no-RE front cover has been found with the Indianapolis and Hollywood non-flexible vinyl pressings. The RE front cover was found with the non-flexible Rockaway pressing. All three finds contain the 21-112-1 40D (6/1968) insert sleeve. One find, has November 13, 1970 written on the cover, which tilted the date of issue to 1970.
