These cover slics represent what would have been, RCA Victor AFL1-2347 Elvis Greatest Hits, Volume One (LP). Based on the catalog number, it would appear to have been scheduled for release prior to Moody Blue.2
It is also interesting to note that the song selections are not identical to those on AHL1-2347. The order of the songs are slightly different with In The Ghetto and Surrender dropped and What’d I Say (Unreleased Live) and Don’t Cry Daddy (Unreleased Live) added. On a smaller note, the original slics differentiate the studio from the live recordings as (UNRELEASED LIVE VERSION) vs (UNRELEASED LIVE).
This LP was scheduled and advertised for September 1977 with the catalog number CPL1-2347. A “merchandising catalog”, INSIDE volume two, number eight, September 19771 releases show a picture of this album. Since these catalogs were often printed a month in advance, one conclusion is that this release was cancelled because of Elvis’ death.2
Released as AHL1-2347 Greatest Hits, Volume One in 1981.
